Effects of wood vinegar and chelated calcium combined application on soil properties and growth of cotton seedlings in saline-alkali soil

Abstract:
      Abstract: In order to investigate the effects of wood vinegar and chelated calcium on the soil properties and the growth of cotton seedlings in Xinjiang saline-alkali soil.A pot experiment was conducted with 7 treatments. That is distilled water (CK),wood vinegar 150 (M1), 300 (M2), 600 kg·hm-2 (M3), wood vinegar+chelated calcium 150 (T1), 300 (T2), 600 are applied kg·hm-2 (T3).The results show that:(1)Compared with the control,the application of Wood Vinegar and Wood Vinegar + Chelated Calcium could significantly reduce the content of total water soluble salt in soil,They decreased by 52.27% and 54.10% respectively,and significantly increase the contents of soil available phosphorus (Olsen-P),available potassium (Olsen-K), Soil Polyphenol Oxidase (S-PPO) and Soil Alkaline Phosphatase (S-AKP). The plant height, stem diameter and fresh weight of cotton seedlings were increased.(2)Compared with the liquid phase ratio of single Wood Vinegar,Wood Vinegar + Chelated Calcium could effectively promote the decrease of total water soluble salt in soil, the increase of Olsen-P, Olsen-K and S-AKP activities, and the increase of plant height, stem diameter and fresh weight of cotton seedlings.The lowest water soluble total salt was 3.54 g·kg-1 under T3 treatment.Compared with CK,the contents of Olsen-P and Olsen-K were the highest in T2 treatment,65.30 g·kg-1 and 174.00 g·kg-1, and increased by 88.10% and 19.70% compared with CK,respectively.The activity of S-AKP was the strongest in T3 treatment. Compared with CK,the plant height,stem diameter and fresh weight of cotton seedlings were the highest in T2 treatment. They were 8.60 cm, 11.80 cm and 3.27 g, respectively.(3)Through Entropy Weight analysis,T2 processing ranked first overallit was concluded that the combined application of Wood Vinegar + Chelated Calcium was better than that of single Wood Vinegar in improving saline-alkali soil,and T2 treatment was superior to other treatments.The application of Wood Vinegar and Wood Vinegar + Chelated Calcium can improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil and promote the growth of cotton seedlings in the saline-alkali soil of Xinjiang China.The combined application of Wood Vinegar + Chelated Calcium has better effects on the improvement of the saline-alkali soil and the growth of cotton seedlings in Xinjiang China than that of the single application of wood vinegar,and the optimal application amount is 300 kg·hm-2,which has recommended value.
