Abstract:
This paper discusses the research progress of the physiol ogical and e cological basis for water saving irrigation of winter wheat from the viewpoint of crop physiology and cropland environment. Most researches are concentrated wi thin three aspects: the biological characteristics of plant, the relationship be tween soil water and plant root, and the environment of atmosphere. Each of thes e three aspects has been studied in deep, but the synthetic study of them and th e study of the marginal subjects are deficient. In the future, emphasis should b e placed on the relationship between the high yield, quality and efficiency of w inter wheat and soil water and its physiological or ecological mechanism on the basis of soil plant atmosphere continuum.
