| This paper presents the general methods for the regulation of soil wetting pattern and discusses some necessary considerations on how to regulate soil water by a more reasonable drip irrigation scheduling．Moreover，it summarizes the characteristics of potato water requirement，and discusses the methods to estimate potato evapotranspiration，the means to measure and evaluate the soil moisture status， the effects of rainfall pattern on the soil water regulation，and five ways to schedule drip irrigation for potato．Finally，based on the current research situation，the paper presents four relevant academic problems that need further study． |
