The relations between sulfur nutrition and root hydraulic conductance (Lpr) were studied in wheat (Xiaoyan No.503) seedling period. The experiment was each done in Hoagland solution and pot test culture indoors. The PEG 6000 was used to simulate drought stress (-0.3 Mpa). Sulfur level was controlled with 1/2 strength Hoagland nutrition solution and 1/2 strength Non-sulfur Hoagland nutrition solution. The soil moisture content in pot test was controlled through weighing every day. The sulfur level was controlled through adding sulfur or not. In different water restoring time, the root hydraulic conductance was measured. The variety of root hydraulic conductance was compared in wheat seedling under water stress and sulfur nutrition stress conditions. The results indicated: During normal condition or drought stress, the wheat root hydraulic conductance of treatment with sulfur supply is higher than that in absent. After restoring water, the wheat root hydraulic conductance recovery ability of plant with sulfur supply is better than that in absent. It is demonstrated that in Hoagland and pot culture plant with sulfur supply had better recovery ability, and sulfur nutrition had obvious adjust effect on Lpr. in wheat root. |
