The study was carried out to investigate the yield and regularity of soil water condition of 12 alfalfa cultivars. The results showed that there was a close relationship between yield of alfalfa and soil water condition. The yield and soil water condition were different among various cultivars and different harvest stages. Soil water condition also varied among different soil depth. Soil moisture content at different harvest stages showed the regularity of high-low-high which was related to the growth and yield of alfalfa, the soil water movement and the rainfall distribution. Cimmaron, Algoquin, WL-323 and WL-323ML could absorb water in deeper layers, and had higher potentiality to increase production and sharp ability of drought resistance. |
