Abstract:
The experiment and demonstration in Yangou catchments adopted such measures as conversing slope faming land into terrace land, extending drought-resistant crops varieties, increasing fertilizers inputs, adjusting the land area for grain production and improving the combinative factors of production elements to make the grain yield rapidly and steadily increase, and greatly enhance the productivity of grain-producing land. In the catchments, by 2000, the land area for grain production had reduced by 59.1% compared with that in 1997; but the average grain yield had quadrupled that in 1997 the total grain yield had increased by 33.7% compared with that in 1997, and then he effect that decreased grain land did not result in decreased grain production was realized.
