Abstract:
Using two-year pot apple trees of Royal Gala with their roots partitioned, An experiment consisting of five treatments of root irrigation, irrigating the whole root system, three fourths of the root system, two fourths of the root system, and one fourth of the root system and no irrigating of the root system, were conducted to study the effects of partitioned root irrigation on water potential, stomata resistance and shoot and leaf growth. The results showed that where three fourths, two fourths and one fourth of the root system were irrigated and if the leaf water potential insignificantly varied, and the stomatal resistance increased and the growth inhibition of young shoots took place. In addition, the bigger the non-irrigation size became, the stronger the inhibition became.
