| Abstract: |
| The paper demonstrates the construction scale of the silt-arresting dams in the loess plateau mainly depending on its grain demands,total incoming sediment and constructive capacity,pointing out that by 2020 ten million silt-arresting dams will have been built,and of them twenty seven thousand dams will be backbone dams and one hundred and thirty six thousand dams will be silt-arresting dams for farmland;by 2020 four hundred and ninety five thousand hectares of newly built farmland will have been added,two point nine seven million of steep farmland,36% of the total of eight point two three million slope farmland in the region in 2000,will have been withdrawn from farming.Therefore,the objectives to build silt-arresting dams for farmland to 2020,put forward in the plan to build silt-arresting dams for farmland in the Loess Plateau,are feasible and practical. |
