Desulphurized waste of flue gas used as chemical improvement agent was tested on alkali soil in Tuoketuo County of Inner Mongolia Region. In the experiment, the soil properties (such as pH, total salt quantity, exchangeable Na+ and alkalinity) and the physiological parameters of maize (such as seedling emergence rate and yields) were observed in regular time to investigate the effect of desulphurized waste of flue gas on the soil physicochemical characters and the growth and yields of maize. The results showed that soil pH and total salt quantity in treatment areas was decreased compared to non-treatment areas. The higher the initial alkalinity was, the more obviously the exchangeable Na+ and alkalinity decreased in treatment areas. The seedling emergence rate and yields of maize in treatment areas were better than non-treatment areas. The desulphurized waste of flue gas is an effective chemical agent to improve alkali soil. |
