| Abstract: |
| In “the comprehensive demonstration area of rainwater harvesting and complementing water-saving irrigation” in Pengyang County of southern Ningxia, the rainfall, soil moisture, models of rainwater harvesting, and yield and water use of crops were investigated and analyzed. The results showed that the five integrated models of rainwater harvesting and utilization were effective in preventing or reducing of soil and water erosion, and in rational distribution and use of rainwater. Water in reservoirs, pools, dams and cellars was used for complementing irrigation that was an effective way to relieve water deficiency during critical period of crops. The handy use and overlapped use of rainwater could promote the growth of crops, trees and grasses, and improve the economic and ecological function of rainwater. |
