Abstract:
The experiment was carried out by using self-designed devices for control of water supply tension, and the growth process, biomass accumulation, water use efficiency(WUE) and root/shoot ratio(R/S) of cucumber were measured. The results showed that the growth process of cucumber was slowed down progressively, the number of staminate or pistillate flowers was decreased, and the biomass accumulation of various organs was reduced with water supply tension rising. The plant WUE and fruit WUE were positively corresponded with water supply tension in the scope of 1~20 hPa;when water supply tension was within 20~80 hPa,the plant WUE was negatively corresponded with it and the yield WUE was basically stable;when water supply tension exceeded 80 hPa,the plant WUE and yield WUE were all negatively corresponded with it.R/S was positively corresponded with water supply tension when it was below 20 hPa;R/S was relatively stable when water supply tension exceeded 20 hPa.
