The field experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of urea and resin coated urea on yield and economic benefit of corn planted in aeolian sandy soil and irrigated desert soil. The results showed that resin coated urea presented well in the two types of soil in terms of corn yield.Compared to urea with the same N application rate, the yield of corn with resin coated urea was increased by 6.4% in aeolian sandy soil and 15.4% in irrigated desert soil.By applying resin coated urea with 50% and 67% of conventional N level in irrigated desert soil and in aeolian sandy soil respectively, the yield of corn was equivalent to that with urea at conventional N level. In irrigated desert soil, the economic benefit of resin coated urea application was superior to that of urea; In aeolian sandy soil, the economic benefit of resin coated urea application at conventional N level was the highest, however, when the application rate was reduced to 67% of conventional N level, the benefit of resin coated urea became slightly lower. It was also confirmed that the corn yield in aeolian sandy soil was a little lower than that in irrigated desert soil even though the N application rate was raised by 127.5 kg/hm2. |
