Abstract:
      This paper describes briefly the definition，categories and measuring methods of plant water use efficiency （ WUE） ．It mainly introduces the internal influential factors of WUE including plant sorts and varieties，the anatomic structure of leaf and physiological and biochemical features，the external influential factors of WUE including the meteorological，soil and biological factors，and the acting mechanisms of these factors．The effects of stomatal heterogeneity，canopy and leaf boundary layer on plant WUE，and the reason why the relationship between Δ13C and WUE in field is less close than that in glasshouse are also discussed．Further more，it puts forward the direction and focus of plant WUE research in the future．
