| Abstract: |
| The four alfalfa genotypes(Vernal;Golden Empress;Northstar and Algonquin) were studied to test their biological and physiological characteristics and their water equalizing abilities. The results indicate that Algonquin is the best and Northstar is the second best in terms of quality because these two genotypes bear both high protein content,a standard for high quality herbage, and stronger adversity-resistant matter and they are suitable for dry areas; The other two genotypes-Vernal and Golden Empress are suitable for water-rich and fertile areas because they bear a high chlorophyll content,a comparatively great plant height and a ratio of Root biomass/shoot biomass. |
