Abstract:
Effect of water stress and re-watering after water stress on root conformation, activity and accumulation of dry matter of rice root were studied using pot cultivation. The results showed that accumulation of dry matter of rice root,root/shoot ratio, root activity and the number of root per seedling decreased, while mean root length increased greatly compared with full irrigation. After re-watering,accumulation of dry matter and number of root per seeding, root length and root activity increased greatly compared with full irrigation. It suggests that re-watering after water stress in tillering stage has over-compensatory effects on root conformation and absorbing activity.
