Sustainable development assessment based on ecological footprint method in western China’s City —— A case study of Baoji City

Abstract:
      Ecological Footprint is a significantly accounting for overall assessing the status of sustainable development,and a comprehensive indicator for human recourse consumption.Calculating the ecological footprint of Baoji in 2004,the result shows that the average ecological footprint is 1.887 hm2,ecological capacity is only 0.462 7 hm2,and the ecological deficit is 1.426 hm2.In addition,from 1995 to 2004 the ecological footprint is beyond the ecological capacity of the natural ecological system,the ecological pressure is great in Baoji city.At last,some suggestions are gaven to alleviate this city's ecological pressure.
