Abstract:
Experiments with dependent errors frequently occur in agricultural field research. The traditional analysis of variance can not account for the correlation of the dada.Recent years, much progress has been made in theory and application of mixed linear model. The general mixed linear model can account for the correlated errors in data analysis. This study analyzed the data from a irrigation experiment using both general mixed linear model and variance analysis model, compared the differences between the two methods in model definition, program application and analysis results. The results showed that the general mixed linear model fitted the irrigation experiment data with correlated errors better than the model of analysis of variance, and hence could get more objective evaluation in testing the treatment effects.
