Abstract:
This work briefly reviewed synthesis processes production routes and chemical and physical characteristics of polyacrylamide (PAM) as well as its application to soil amelioration. The interactions between PAM and soil materials especially with soil clay fraction were presented in detail. The mechanisms that PAM can increase soil aggregate stability control surface sealing formation improve water infiltration and reduce runoff and soil erosion were examined in depth. The effects of PAM and soil properties as well as PAM application protocols on the effectiveness of soil amelioration were elucidated at the fundamental process level.
