Abstract:
By artificial si mulated salt stress with NaCl aqueous solution we compared 18 cucumber varieties’salt tolerancein their sprout stage and seedling stage respectively according to salt toxicity coefficient of indices deter mined as well as the correlation bet ween their salt tolerance in the t wo stages and classified the 18 varieties according to their salt tolerancein the t wo stages by cluster analysis. The correlation among total salt toxicity coefficient and ger mination energy ger mination rate ger mination index shoot height root length shoot fresh weight root fresh weight and vigor index were extremely prominent in sprout stage. The correlation among total salt toxicity coefficient and shoot fresh weight root fresh weight root dry weight index of seedling growth root/shoot ratio reached extremely prominent level in seedling stage ;while correlation among shoot dry weight chlorophyll a/b chlorophyll (a +b)/carotenoid was not prominent. Salt tolerance in the t wo growth stages was different according to the t wo cluster analysis figures. Cucumber varieties have obviously different salt tolerance in their sprout and seedling stages. Ger mination energy ger mination rate ger mination index vigor index shoot height shoot fresh weight root fresh weight can serve as indicators to appraise salt tolerance of cucumber varieties in sprout stage comprehensively. While shoot fresh weight root fresh weight shoot dry weight root dry weight index of seedling growth and root/shoot ratio can be used to appraise salt tolerance of cucumber varieties in seedling stage.
