Abstract: |
Observation through paraffin method and electronic microscope revealed that stomatal density of maize leaves increased, stomatal length and width decreased obviously under soil moderate drought during seedling stage. The epidermal cells of leaf became smaller because of water loss, and the floral hoop structure was destroyed. The cortical layer of root reduced, and vascular bundle sheath distribution was disorganized. The parenchyma cell of stem turned regular to mixed and disorderly. The chloroplasts became round, and the fat droplets in cells increased and became larger. The chloroplast membrane were injured seriously as the drought developed. The chloroplast lamellae arranged disorderly as the water stress lasted, and the stroma lamellae was also sensitive to moderate drought. |
