Abstract:
Winter wheat in bed-planting in rain-fed areas with severe drought was seriously stressed by soil water decreasing as crop growth and development. An experiment was carried out to study the effects of bed-planting and mulching system,bed-planting system, flatting culture practice and and flatting culture with mulching on the yield of winter wheat. The results showed that, compared with the control, the yield decreased by 7%~10%,mainly because of total population,LAI,and dry matter accumulation decreasing by 7.1%~14.6%,8.1%~16.3% and 0.4%~27.3%,respectively.Moreover,dry matter contribution was unreasonable, and the potential of edge effects for yield increase was rather limited under the case, causing a yield decrease by 7%~10%.So,whether the technology of bed-planting applying in rain-fed areas is successful or not mainly depends on the special condition of the annual rainfall, and the bed-planting is not suitable for severely dry areas.
