Abstract:
A new spring wheat variety, Longchun 27 with good drought tolerance and high output, was bred by the sexsual hybridization (8858-2×Longchun8) , recurrent selection in irrigation and drought environments in order to pro-mote wheat production level in northwest arid areas and speed up cultivar replacement. The tests showed that the average yield of Longchun 27 was 180 kg/667m2 and 201.87 kg/667m2, which was first in all tested materials, and inereased by 4.91% and 21.37%(up to significant level) in comparison with the common check Dingxi 35, respectively, in national regional experiment of northwest dryhand spring wheat group in 2006 and 2007; it was 227.67 kg/667m2 and 12.71% more than that of Dingxi 35 in 2008 production test. On the other hand, the drought tolerance of Longchun 27 was the best compared with that of Dingxi 35 and other varieties (lines) during the above experiments, and its index of resistance to drought was 1.1835 in 2006 and 1.1014 in 2007. So it will produce wide prospect to grow Longchun 27 in northwest arid region of China due to its high yield and drought tolerance.
