Abstract:
To study the effects of chitosan on wheat germination power, germination rate, wet weight, dry weight, radicle length, embryonic length and activities of protective enzyme in seedlings under drought stress by measuring activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD), peroxidase(POD) and catalase(CAT). The results showed that all groups significantly improved the biophysical index, the activities of protec tive enzyme compared with CK. Activity of POD increased and then decreased, the activities of CAT and SOD decreased during the pocess of drought coutinuing. Physiological characteristics of seedlings of wheat in different groups are similar during the pocess of drought, but testing groups recovered faster than CK after drought. Spraying chitosan liquid can enhance wheat germination and growing, improve activities of protective enzyme in seedlings under drought stress significantly.
