Abstract:
In alpine areas of eastern Qilian Mountains, four land use patterns, such as natural grassland, naturally restored abandoned cropland, slope cropland and sown grassland were selected to study the effect of diff erent land use patterns on the content and density of organic carbon in surface soil. The results showed that the content of organic carbon in surface soil of the natural grassland was the highest, while that of the naturally restored abandoned cropland and slope cropland was the lowest; With the soil depth increased, the density of organic carbon in surface soil gradually reduced; In 0~30 cm soil layer, significant differences existed in the density of organic carbon in surface soil among 4 types of land use patterns (P<0.05), the spatial distribution of the density of organic carbon in surface soil performanced as natural grassland (15.81 kg/m2)>sown grassland (7.56 kg/m2)>slope cropland (6.08 kg/m2)>naturally restorated abandoned cropland (5.48 kg/m2). All these indicated that land use patterns had significant effect on the content and density of organic carbon in surface soil.
