Abstract:
The effects of different planting density and nitrogen rate on photosynthetic active radiation, photosynthetic characteristics, yield and quality were studied through a field experiment with the split block design in semiarid areas of western Henan. The results showed that: (1) with increase of nitrogen rate and planting density, flue-cured tobacco had an increase trend in intercepting photosynthetic active radiation. The net photosynthetic rate of tobacco leaves increased with increase of nitrogen level. High planting density and high nitrogen rate could decrease stomata conductivity. (2) Under the same planting density, with increase of nitrogen rate tobacco output increased and the D3N4 treatment got the highest output of 3 162 kg/hm2. Planting density had significant influence on tobacco yield, and the treatment of D3 density had the highest yield under the same nitrogen rate application. The difference of tobacco output was not significant between D2 and D3 density except the nitrogen rate at N4 level. Under the same nitrogen rate application, the D2 density treatment got the highest tobacco output. Under D2N2 and D2N4 treatments, the output reached 42 148.5 yuan/hm2 and 42 454.5 yuan/hm2, respectively, and the proportion of superior tobacco leaves reached 32.2% and 32.8%, respectively. The D2N2 treatment got the highest average price (14.9 yuan/kg). (3) Compared comprehensively, planting density at D2 (16 500 plants/hm2) and the application level of nitrogen rate at N2 (60 kg/hm2) were suitable in tobacco-growing region of western Henan.
