Abstract: |
Based on the SPOT VGT-NDVI image data, this paper analyzed the spatial-temporal variation and regulation of the dynamic change of vegetation coverage in the 5 northwestern provinces (including Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai and Xinjiang)
from 1999 to 2007 by use of the maximum synthesis, the mean method, linear regression and least square method. The results showed that the vegetation coverage in Northwest China was improved obviously in the 9 years. The improved ratio is
26.92%. There were still vegetation coverage degenerations in some parts of the region and the area percentage was 1.22%, which is obviously less than that of the improved area. Except Shaanxi Province, the vegetation coverage in Northwest China is not high overall. The vegetation coverage is the highest in July and August in the year. |
