Abstract:
      This study aimed to investigate the correlation between early vigor of Brassica and its seedlings growth under drought stress. Six rapeseed of different early vigor were treated with PEG-6000 osmotic solution at different con-centrations and measured their root length, seedling height, and root shoot ratio. The growth of tested varieties was com-pared with those under normal physical condition in the field and was further analyzed. The results showed each variety responded significantly different to the different concentrations of PEG-6000 osmotic solution. EV1 EV2 and EV3 had larger root length, seeding height and root shoot ratio than EV5 and EV6. At field five leaves stage, compared to EV5 and EV6, EV2 and EV3 had bigger canopy cover area, larger dry matter accumulation and root dry weight. The study showed there was a strong correlation between canopy cover area and dry matter aceumulation. In conclusioa, taking the characters of seedlings under drought stress into consideration, Brassica variety of stronger early vigor will have superior growth potential in the field.
