Evaluation of salt tolerance of hulless barley cultivars during germination

Abstract:
      This study aims to evaluate salt tolerance of 34 hulless barley cultivars according to indexes of germination including germinative force, germination rate, germination index, germination vigor. Correlation analysis and principal component analysis indicated that cultivars of XQ0478, Baiyu qingke, XQ0792, XQ0198, and N4-1had higher salt tolerance, while Aiheiliu, Aliumi, 9718 and 9803-2 showed lower tolerance. According to synthetic evaluation value (D), the 34 cultivars were clustered into three groups: Group A, D value>0.5,eight cultivars; Group B, D<0.3, four cultivars; and Group C, D value between 0.3 and 0.5, the remaining 22 cultivars with medium salt tolerance.
