Abstract:
A new pea varietiy Dingwan 8 was bred through sexual hybridization and pedigree breeding method using A909 as the female parent and 7345 as male parent. Among multi-site tests in 2007—2009, the average yield from 15 points was 1 908.75 kg·hm-2, increased by 18.64% compared to Dingwan 4 (CK). Its plant height was about 65.24 cm. Node numbers of main stem, effective pods per plant, and grains per pod were 12.0, 4.38, and 4.02, respectively. Its 100-seed weight was 21.30 g. The growth period was 90 days. Crude protein, lysine, crude fat, and starch conten in dry seeds were 26.93%, 1.38%, 0.902%, and 57.52%, respectively. In conclusion, this variety would be high in yield, good in drought and root rot resistance, and suitable to be planted in arid and semi-arid region in Gansu and other similar regions.
