Abstract:
The compositions of high molecular weight glutenin subunits were investigated through SDS-PAGE analyses using 382 winter wheat varieties from Longdong, and sedimentation value, protein and wet gluten contents of 315 cultivars were deciphered with a near infrared analyzer. The results showed that there were 16 types of subunits and 35 subunit compositions in these materials. Among them, the null, 7+8, and 2+12 subunits were the major types for their respective loci. The subunits of 1, 7+9, and 5+12 were increased obviously in bred and introduced varieties from those in local varieties, and the frequency (17.02%) of subunit 5+10 was high in bred varieties. The subunit composition with null, 7+8, and 2+12 was the major type in local varieties. However, in bred and introduced varieties, subunit compositions with null, 7+9 and 2+12 (23.40% and 17.58% respectively), null, 7+8 and 2+12 (21.28% and 16.48% respectively), and 1, 7+8 and 2+12 (10.60% and 15.38% respectively) were the dominant combinations. Varieties with the composition of 2*, 7+8, and 5+12 had relatively superior quality. According to the subunit combinations, qualities of 89 winter wheat varieties scored above 8, and 23 varieties even had a score of 10 in this experiment.
