Abstract:
In order to estimate the benefit of irrigation water supply, two economic models based on the Solow’s advanced Cobb-Douglas (C-D) production function were established by using water as one of the essential production factors, fertilizer and plowland as supporting factors, and taking mechanical power input as a replacement offixed inputs. Then, the elasticity coefficients of the water in Baoji and Xianyang, the two cities of Baoji Gorge Irrigation District, were obtained using Ridge Regression Analysis. Thus, the irrigation benefits of water supply were calculated. The results showed that the elasticity coefficient of water for Baoji and Xianyang was 0.098 and 0.075, respectively. The irrigation benefit had been increasing year by year, and the total benefit was increased to¥1.46 billion by 2015, which was equivalent to an average ¥2.89·m3, among that, it was ¥2.29·m3 in Baoji and ¥3.34·m3 in Xianyang. The regional differences of the returns was mainly due to the total agriculture production outputs between the two cities within the Irrigation District, also, the difference in agricultural technology usage and the composition of crops may result in the overall difference.
